This 1997 Ferrari 456 GTA is presented in Verde Mugello Metallic exterior with Tan interior. One of 1,271 456 Ferraris produced between 1992 and 2003, It has the original 5.5-liter V12 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission which currently shows 10,938 miles on the six-digit analog odometer verified by the carfax report. The GTA designation refers to A for automatic as in the 4-speed automatic operated by a traditional metal-knobbed shifter. Its performance is anything but traditional. Integrated into the rear-mounted differential, it is one of the first automatics to use artificial intelligence to read the driver's inputs and adjust its shift points and firmness to match. At speed, the torque converter hands its duties over to a mechanical clutch to lock out slippage, an important feature when the GTA's 5.5L 4-valve DOHC V-12 delivers all of its 436 horses and almost 400 lb-ft of torque. The 456GTA was originally sold in Chattanooga, TN in December of 1996, subsequently that owner moved to Massachusetts where changed hades in 2005 to the second owner. Both the second and third owners kept it in Massachusetts until 2012 it was sold to the forth and final owner in North Carolina. This 456 GTA has been very well maintained over the years and has very low miles. The GTA was only the fourth automatic transmission offered by Ferrari in a production car. Only 403 GTA units were built in the run of 3,289 total 456s produced. At 188 mph, the 456 was the world's fastest production four-seater at the time. This was the last Ferrari model to use pop-up headlamps, which function properly. The 456 received its name from the fact that each cylinder displaces 456 cubic centimeters, and was the last Ferrari to use this style of nomenclature. The 5.5 liters 65 degree V12 looks clean in the tidy engine compartment and uses Bosch Motronic M5.2 engine management. Output numbers were advertised at 442hp, and acceleration to 100 kmh/62 mph was just 5.2 seconds, with a quarter-mile time of 13.4 seconds. Please call Foreign Cars Charlotte at 980-333-7482 and ask for Brian Barr for more details.
